How does osteopathy work

Two of the most important principles of osteopathy are that the body is viewed in its entirety and that the goal is to improve your health.
Everything in the body moves and much more than we realize. Not only in activities, but in rest or during sleep, our body continues undisturbed. The heart continues to pump blood, food is digested, the lungs continue to breathe day and night without us stopping. All these different functions and systems within the body ensure that the body remains healthy and energetic. Good movement (mobility) of the different systems ensures the proper functioning of the entire body. Overload, an accident, illness, surgery, stress or poor dietary habits can cause loss of movement and pain in the body. Without good mobility, the processes in the body run more difficult, function costs more energy, becomes less comfortable and eventually it can cause physical complaints. Movement is therefore the main focus of the osteopath.
An osteopath does not only look at the part of the body that causes symptoms, but at the musculoskeletal system, the connective tissue, the skull and the general functioning of the body. We look at the freedom of movement in the body. In the places where the movement is reduced, the limitations of movement are restored with (mostly) soft hand-marks. By improving mobility, the body gets the space to recover, to let the symptoms disappear and to function optimally again.
An osteopath can correct complaints that have been going on for years and that sometimes even seemed unsolvable. An osteopath often comes into the picture when a complaint proves persistent. If, for example, it is said: 'you must learn to live with this pain'.
